Sligo Town

Things dried out and I was back on the road.  I returned to Sligo to look around.  It was typical of any small (20,000 +/- pop.) but healthy city.  There were Mom and Pop shops, signs for shopping center, doctors, a few liquor stores, pubs and betting establishments.

Just down the street from Sligo Abbey, I found the most wonderful shop!  It is called The Cat and The Moon ( https://www.thecatandthemoon.ie ).  Ladies, my tail was wagging!!

They had some of the most unusual and beautiful handcrafted jewelry by Irish artisans.  I purchased a very special necklace by Enibas ( https://www.enibas.com ).  It is an oval-like pendant with the words "Do shaol...Do thuras" which translates to "Your Life...Your Journey".  (Pronounced duh hail...duh horus)

I immediately fell in love with the sentiment (especially coming off a divorce) and have worn it nearly every day since.  I even bought one for my daughter.  No, I don't receive anything from mentioning these stores, but if you appreciate unusual things, you may enjoy the websites as well. I have costume jewelry but each piece of my 'good' jewelry has to have a special meaning to me or I simply will not buy it.  And - I don't want to see the same pieces on someone else every time I turn around.

Busy, busy town!

So much to see and do.

Look at all those brown signs pointing you to historic things!

Thankfully there are some one way streets in Sligo.

And at least, SURGERY is open!

After walking around downtown Sligo, I decided to get the car and follow the signs to Rosses Point.
