Rosses Point

I had no idea what Rosses Point was but the gorgeous estates were worth the drive!  I did make it to the headland and Sligo Bay did not disappoint.  The wind picked up and the waves were frothy.  I braved the elements to view a very emotional statue.  It is a lone woman standing against the wind with her arms outstretched as if pleading with Mother Nature.  The bronze statue  is called "Waiting On Shore" and is a tribute to the seafaring men and women of Rosses Point.

I'm not certain if the height of the door step is to keep out Leprechauns or high tide!

An accessible pub without a crowd.

A small lighthouse on Sligo Bay.

While I was photographing, a man came over from the marina.  He told me that many, many years ago, a boat with eleven children was coming across the bay to attend school  in Rosses Point.  Apparently a storm overtook them and swamped the boat.  All eleven children and the few adults on the boat were lost.

Such a tragedy - - I hope he was only spinning a tale for me.

Some residential and some vacant homes on the island and the only mode of transportation (below).

Did I mention earlier that I once owned part of an island off the coast of Florida?

No?  Okay, that's a story for another time.

Leaving Rosses Point, I had planned to casually drive back to my AirBnB, but I saw another sign, "Carrowmore".  I immediately turned with the signs!
