Hell-Fire Club

On a day, when I had no agenda, I simply drove south taking whatever roads looked good.

I spotted a ruin in the distance in the town of Askeaton and drove zig-zag until I found the street.  HOLY COW!  I was expecting a church or maybe a watch tower but instead I found a HELL-FIRE CLUB.  I've never heard of such a thing but I'm always willing to learn.

Turns out the Hell-Fire Club is actually the name given to several clubs throughout the UK and Ireland where prominent gentleman (some rumors say prominent women) were invited to engage in their fetishes or (allegedly) evil devil worship.  Still many historians believe they were really just a social club.  Yeah, I bet it was very social!! Which makes the destruction in 2263 A.D. so interesting!

Anyhow, I am showing the sign which gives the history of this Hell-Fire Club and you can google for more information on other locations, etc.

On the left you can see the Hell-Fire Club made of modern brick.

There were steps down to the river so guests may come and go undetected!

On the right is the remains of

a church and a castle.

You can see the large foundation and the interior of the castle. Very Cool!
