County Antrim (UK)

Driving to County Antrim was very relaxing and I kept looking for a sign that would say "Leaving the Republic of Ireland' or "Welcome to Northern Ireland".  The transition was so seamless and the traffic away from the eastern coast was easy.

The only thing noticeable is Northern Ireland (being part of the UK) uses pounds instead of euros, so you will need some UK monies or your credit card.  Well, I did notice another old familiar smell from my childhood.  Manure.  My grandmother had a farm with cows, etc.  Apparently some local farmers had spread some of this black gold on their fields near the motorway.

I arrived at my AirB-n-B, checked in, drove around a bit and planned for the next day along the northern coast.

Driving around the countryside, I noticed several things:

(1.)  If you have a patch of land, then you have livestock.  It could be a lamb, a goat or a cow. Of

course there is the family dog or cat, just loving life! Every yard seemed to have something.

(2.)  It was not unusual to see a cow walking down the street and her owner slowly following after

her!  (I can't get my dog to walk that well on a leash.)

(3.)  How lovely it is that different species were the dearest of friends, like the cat and the calf.

The next morning, I was up before the birds having slept better than I had in years.  I quietly left the house, ready for the day.
