Castle Lough Rynn

Castle Lough Rynn is truly an amazing estate and, naturally, has a colorful history.  The original castle (1474) lies closer to Lough Rynn and is now in ruins.  The newer castle  is more English than Irish.  In 1833 Robert Bermingham, Viscount Clements, built a mock Tudor revival home on the shores of the lough (lake).  The massive 90,000 acres has dwindled down to the current 300 acres.

I had a light lunch in the Cocktail Bar with beautiful daylight streaming in the large windows, with several tables perfect for a small groups or couples.  Sharply pressed linens and reflective glassware.   On my way out, I passed a sign "Dungeon Bar".  How could I have missed that?  I also missed the walled gardens and as much as I love photography and flowers, that also put Lough Rynn Castle near the top of my list on my next visit.

This is where I had the delicious cheese that I took back to my AirBnB hostess.  I am not a cheese connoisseur, but her tail was wagging!!  In fact, she declared it "GRAND".

I walked around the estate grounds marveling at the work needed to maintain it all and the simple beautiful nature.  When I tired, I drove around the lanes and found the Druid's Circle.
